The Year of the Dragon ushers in a brand-new set of energies not just for the year but for the next two decades. With the changing of the calendar, we have now entered a new period that will last for the next twenty years. As you can see, it’s pretty significant.

For now, though, I want you to know what to expect in the year ahead.

This is the Year of the Dragon
The last time we had a Wood Dragon year was in 1964. The wood energy of the dragon flying into the center sector means we could see more tumult that ranges from wars and fighting to earthquakes.

The dragon promotes health, growth and vigorous energy.

Dragons are the favored animals in feng shui and in Asia. The dragon represents the pinnacle of good fortune, power, and health.

Having an image of a dragon in the east corner of your home, living room, and garden are excellent ways to foster growth and energy in your home and life this year.

Do make sure that dragons are not placed in a bedroom because they’re too energetic and may keep you from sleeping well and they should never be placed in a bathroom.

This year dragons are most auspicious in the east sector and bring prestige and energy that is fortunate and favored for growth, opportunity, and to benefit the family, and more specifically, the oldest son.

The oldest son advances

The oldest son is representative of the 3 star, the reigning star of 2024, and with its prominence in the center sector, the son will see new activities and more growth this year.

If your oldest son is a teen or toddler, the 3 star could promote extra energy that makes him more irascible. Just keep your calm and put your remedies in place.

Indeed, many families will see growth, especially if they can foster harmony and good relations, and put the appropriate remedies for the 3 star to work. This may be tricky because the 3 star is often seen as the argument and legal star. Fortunately, it only takes red color to help hold down the 3’s energy.

This year, it’s possible more families may undergo difficulties or have legal disputes within the family.

This can happen through inheritance, divorce, restraining orders, child support and custody issues. Paying close to the remedies and not inviting trouble will help you manage the year ahead and build on the opportunity to grow with the 3 star.

The New Period 9 and Prosperity Star

The 9 star is the new water and mountain star and star of prosperity once we move past the annual feng shui date of February 4, 2024.

After this, the 9 takes on new meaning in house charts and annual flying stars, but most especially in the natal home flying star charts. This is when this star becomes the most fortunate of them all, especially when they are together as the mountain and water star.

The difficult luck corners in 2024
In 2024, the corners with the most difficulty luck are the southeast, center, south, and west. With the 5 Yellow moving to the west corner of children, pay close attention to this affliction if you have children in the house or breathing difficulties. The west is the direction of the lungs so there could be problems with respiratory infections, flu, COVID, RSV, etc.

If you have a bedroom or front door located here, pay close attention to the remedies required to manage these afflictions, especially if these corners are your front door, bedroom, or living areas. You can learn more about afflictions here.

The wealth corners in the Year of the Dragon

Wherever the White 1 Star, the 9 Purple Prosperity Star, the 8 Wealth Star, the 6 Heavenly Fortune star flies is where you can find fortune and favor.

It’s especially helpful if these corners correspond to corners that are frequently used, such as the front door, bedroom, home office, or living room. Even having a window in these corners is beneficial as you can open it and let the wealth and fortune chi into the house.

This is the year when the waiting ends

The year comes in like a dragon — full of growth and opportunity. And, like a dragon, there is some bluster and big energy, just like you would expect from a dragon.

If you’ve felt like you’re head has been underwater and that you have been stuck and stagnant, the dragon is going to help you blast out of that rut with some real energy and enthusiasm.

How can you really get ahead in 2024?

Take the time to understand your house so that you know exactly where each corner is located and you can take advantage of all the wonderful energies that are headed our way in 2024.

In the Year of the Rabbit, the signs of sheep and boar, the rabbit’s zodiac friends will get a helping hand from their affinity with the rabbit.

However, the rooster is the sign opposing the Grand Duke Jupiter, so it’s a good idea if you’re a rooster not to rock the boat with people in authority. You will also want to carry a pi yao or a dragon to appease the Grand Duke Jupiter.

Let’s talk now about the year’s most beneficial energies….

Read each of the energies to determine how they might affect you and your family. Pay close attention to the energies that are at your front door, bedroom, or home office.

It is also wise to look at who occupies the sectors where these beneficial energies fall because they can bring many benefits and good fortune to those who sleep, work, or study here.

The White 1 Victory Star flies to the Southwest Matriarch and Marriage Sector

This number is regarded extremely favorably in annual feng shui and in feng shui in general. The one star is associated with the north and with water, generating income, and providing opportunity in your career or business.

This is the number that relates to income, opportunity, and the ability to triumph over the competition. 

Because it’s positioned in the southwest, you may see your own star rise in prominence and enjoy greater success, especially if you have a southwest front door or bedroom, or if you spend time in a southwest corner room.

If this corner is in an important room in your house, like a bedroom or home office, be sure to compete, enter drawings and buy a lottery ticket or two.

The 1 star is also the winning star.

Its positives include opportunity and generating wealth, as well as rising in prominence. The 1 star is seen as a fortune star that’s welcomed wherever it flies.

The 1 star is associated with the planet Jupiter, the great benefic. Anything the 1 star, like Jupiter, touches, it expands. The 1 star will especially benefit the sheep and monkey zodiac signs in 2023.

In the Year of the Rabbit, the southwest sector of women will have this important Victory Star in their corner.

This is the year when transformation — or triumph — is yours.

The 4 Education & Romance Star Flies to Center Sector 

As the 4 star flies into the center sector in the Year of the Rabbit, the year’s water energy will create a blossoming effect. This is a star that can use the center’s earth energy to create a rosy tinged, lightness in your home in 2023.

The 4 star, representing small wood will benefit the whole house with romantic energy this year. It’s good for education, for writers and authors, and for anyone taking tests.

It’s equally helpful to students, marketing specialists, salespeople, and anyone looking to boost their love life.

Interestingly, the 4 star is ruled by the planet Mercury, the planet of communications, travel, and learning.

The 4 star will bring romance and educational benefits to the whole family because of the center sector location, but particularly to the oldest daughter, dragons, and snakes.

Spend time in this location as it can add a feeling of love that will spread throughout your house, especially if you have an open floorplan. This is also a great asset for anyone with a front door that opens in the center of the house, such as those with L-shaped homes.

The only concern with this star? Infidelity. If there is a risk of that, this star could bring it out.

6 White Blessings and Windfalls Star Flies to the West Sector of Children and Descendants 

The 6 star is one of the most favored and highly regarded of all the stars. This is a beautiful energy star that bestows favor and brings achievements, power, influence, authority — and perhaps the best of all its benefits — windfalls, favors and opportunities spilling out at your feet.

In the Year of the Rabbit, the 6 star lands in the west sector of children.

Think of the 6 star as this kind of assistance…the kind that comes from heaven. It’s the star that brings windfalls and good fortune in speculation and brings networking benefits.

It’s the star that represents the rooster zodiac sign, so this year, roosters will get a leg up, receive an unexpected inheritance, or do well in the stock market as an example.

This would be the year that more travel and international opportunities pop up.

It’s also an indicator of a male presence or of someone who has the capacity to lift you up, mentor you or open doors that were previously closed.

Think of someone with prestige, power, and authority bestowing good fortune by taking notice of you, giving you a helping hand and making introductions that bring opportunities.

The 8 Wealth and Prosperity Star Flies to the South Sector of Recognition, Status, and Success

Everyone is always anxious to activate this star because it’s the star of wealth. The 8 wealth star brings with it opportunities for financial gain and good fortune and makes this corner of your house the most fortunate.

This star is ruled by the planet Saturn and its benevolent qualities, and it’s also ruled by the Sun.

The planet Saturn is called the taskmaster or teacher planet, but it’s also a planet of reward. Whenever you have worked hard at something, Saturn rewards.

The Sun confers power and position, prestige, and recognition. These qualities of both the Sun and Saturn represent the rewards brought by the 8 star.

The 8 star is will most benefit the horse zodiac sign with new opportunities and income in the Year of the Rabbit.

Wherever the 8 star flies is the best location for a front door so those with a south-facing house or bedroom will be in for some wonderful energies in 2023 and enhanced prosperity.

The 9 Purple Magnifying Star Flies to the North Corner of Opportunity, Income, and Transformation

The 9 Purple Star is one of future prosperity and this year it flies to the north where it will bring success on the job through connections, a good reputation, and your ability to promote yourself.

The 9 star is ruled by Mercury and the Moon.

In the Year of the Rabbit, the rat zodiac sign will see their world expand in some way. There will be growth and enlargement in their life because the 9 star magnifies and multiplies.

The 9 is the developing energy of a new period of time that will arrive next year in 2024, so its energy is growing stronger, luckier, and more fortunate as we move toward that year.

Hailing from the south social sector, this year those with a north-facing house or bedroom location will have an active social calendar, and be offered opportunities that put them out in front of others that will bring them prestige and praise.

If your front door is located here, you may find that the opportunities you take this year will blossom into bigger financial gains in the future.

The opportunity to socialize and entertain will also be more pronounced this year too.

Activate and Accentuate the Good Fortune Stars

2023: The Last Year in the Period of 8

The Period of 8 is a 20-year cycle that began in February 2004 and ends on February 3, 2024. This was a period of “young men,” where the likes of internet giants like Mark Zuckerburg popped up like flowers in a spring rain.

As we go through 2023, we will finalize a 20 year cycle that will change next year to Period 9.

In Period 9, the new energy will be feminine. The 9 star rules fire and the middle daughter, so we will see women surge ahead in position and power. This will occur next February 4, 2024. It will be an exciting time!

Let’s talk now about the year’s energies….

Read each of the energies to determine how they might affect you and your family. Pay close attention to the energies that are at your front door, bedroom, or home office.

It is also wise to look at who occupies the sectors where afflictions fall. If you have old, sick, very young, or pregnant family members in these corners, it might be wise to move them to another bedroom if possible.

As always it’s best to be prepared for the difficulties. Once that’s done, you can look forward to a year of opportunity and adventure, love and contentment, pleasure and joy.

The 5 Yellow “Bone Breaker” Star flies to the Northwest Breadwinner Sector

This star is the most unfortunate of all the stars. The 5 Yellow Star brings misfortune, misunderstandings, bad luck, accidents, and financial problems.  This is especially true if you sleep, work in this sector or if your front door is in the afflicted sector.  Do take extra care if any of this is true for you.

This is the sector of the breadwinner or the man of the family, and it is he who will be most affected. It will also affect the dog and pig zodiac signs. It will be wise to be cautious this year with health, expenses, and investments. Older men will want to be particularly careful with health particularly with blood pressure, stroke, and heart ailments. It would be wise to put remedies in place.

2 Black Illness Star Flies to East Health, Oldest Son and Family Sector

In 2023, the 2 star flies to the east, the sector of family, growth, and the oldest son. However, all afflictions can affect anyone in the family, including your pets. This year, the 2 Black Illness star is in a fighting position in the east.

This is the meeting of two giants: the big earth of the 2 star and the big wood of the 3 star. You could say it is a clash of the titans. When the 2 and 3 meet up, they form what is called “bullfighting” energy. This can mean that families will face legal complications or argue.

It can also create stomach problems in the household in addition to bringing health challenges to the oldest son. It may also mean that once someone gets sick in a family…everyone in the family gets sick. Keep a close watch on preventing the spread of illness.

This sector relates to the feet and lower legs. Be careful with activities as this could create a twisted ankle, broken foot, or injuries to the feet. Earth-related illnesses will be more common and could show up as stomach issues, problems with the gall bladder, ulcers, and colitis.

If you have any underlying health concerns, they could blossom this year with the influence of the 2 star. Like the 1 star, the 2 star is also ruled by Jupiter, only it expands the difficulties of the 2 star rather than create benefits as it does for the 1 star.

3 Jade Star Flies to the Southeast Wealth and Oldest Daughter Sector

The 3 argument star moves to the sector of the oldest daughter and of investments and assets. This star is also known to stir up legal problems, gossip, arguing and bickering. It is especially hard on couples and creates that weary emotional fatigue that can sometimes end relationships — or bring in a third party.

The bigger concern?

Emotional and nervous upsets so straining that there could be divorce, major depression, or nervous breakdown. Watch for problems with legal matters, wrangling over money, anger from the oldest daughter, or for emotional problems if this is your front door, bedroom, or home office location.

The 7 Red Violence Star

In 2023 the 7 red star moves from the west and heads to the northeast corner. Because this is the sector that rules wisdom, there could be difficulties with thinking clearly, injuries to the hand, and school bullying.

The 7 star affects the ox and tiger zodiac signs most this year, so this year these signs will need to be especially careful with what they say, their relationships, the tendency toward infection, accident, and theft.

This star is ruled by the planet Venus. With the 7 star being an afflicted star, it will represent the negative qualities of Venus. Because Venus rules attractiveness and relationships, the negatives expressed would be problematic relationships, arguments, and narcissism.

Wherever the 7 star falls the tendency to cut off and loss follows. This can be cutting relationships off, lopping off jobs, or losing members of our families.

More than relationship problems and difficulties, this star can cause a host of problems from robbery, accidents, arguments, slander, gossip, injury, and illness of the lungs.

The most grave concern is the potential for injury of children in educational settings. Pay close attention to your child’s school setting and their protection. Another worry is having a pregnant woman in this corner as the 7 star could create worries with bleeding or loss of a pregnancy.

The 3 Killings Direction

This affliction moves each year to a new cardinal direction, and this year it flies to the west. The 3 Killings can affect the ability to concentrate, communicate, and create harsh words between people. Lawsuits, slander, and libel are also a potential under the 3 Killings influence and create three kinds of loss, such as loss of reputation, loss of a loved one, or loss of money.

The 3 Killings take up 90 degrees on the compass. If you sit within those 90 degrees with your back to the direction of the 3 Killings, you’re exposing yourself to its harmful influence. Make certain that you avoid sitting with your back to the 3 Killings. This year that means you should FACE WEST.

Keep all these afflicted sectors in mind when you are assessing the feng shui of your home for the year.

The art of handwriting analysis, graphology, is much like feng shui.

Graphology is undertaken seriously by those who practice it, and those who don’t, often treat it esoterically. But, look at some interesting facts about handwriting analysis, or graphology.  The CIA, FBI and many police departments in the US look at handwriting to understand the minds of those they’re investigating.

How does graphology relate to feng shui? In feng shui, the mind and thinking are related to the hand, so by extension, the style of writing someone has provides some insight into that person’s personality and can influence their lives. In my own feng shui training, my teachers encouraged students to look at our signatures to make sure they looked successful and prosperous, with an emphasis of writing that had bold strokes that tilted up and to the right.

The idea of being supported makes a lot of sense when you think about it. If you sat on a stool all day, your back would ache. But when you have a comfortable and high-backed office chair, you are supported and can work longer and more effectively at your job.
